Common Questions About Our Photography Sessions

Discover answers to the most frequently asked questions about booking and attending photography sessions at Minter’s Farm.

What should I bring to my photography session?

We recommend bringing any props or outfits you wish to include in your photos. Additionally, consider bringing a water bottle and sunscreen since your session is outdoors.

PHOTOGRAPHERS: We recommend bringing signs tailored to your business that will help direct your clients where to go.

Are there any restrictions on the type of photography allowed?

We allow most types of photography but prohibit any sessions that could harm the environment or disrupt farm operations. Please contact us if you have specific questions about your session.

How do I reschedule my session?

If you need to reschedule, please contact us at least one week in advance, if possible. We will do our best to accommodate your new preferred date and time. If weather is the issue, Stephanie will get you rescheduled at a later date as quickly as we know what Mother Nature has in store for us.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations will not be 100% refundable. The initial 50% deposit is forfeited. In the case of rescheduling, the fee will be waived and honored until it can be used within the calendar year.  Please refer to our full cancellation policy on our website for more details.

Is there a fee for using the farm as a photography location?

Yes, there is a location fee for using Minter’s Farm as a photography backdrop. Please see above for current rates and availability.

How do I get on the photographer's schedule?

Check out our Photography Calendar to see what is available! Or reach out to Stephanie by text (preferred) or phone call at 770-296-8360 or email at stephanie@mintersfarm.com

Are pets allowed on the farm?

We love all the critters and welcome them to the farm! Please be sure they’re leashed at ALL times and picked up after. And PLEASE don’t let them tinkle on the trees (no one wants a tree that smells like urine or will be marked by the critters in their home once it makes it off the farm).

How do I pay?

Once scheduled, you’ll put all of your contact info and credit/debit card info in the system. The scheduling program gives you the option to pay the mandatory, nonrefundable 50% deposit only or pay in full. Once you get closer to your session(s), you’ll receive a reminder to pay the remaining balance (if not paid in full) online.

Where do I go to take my pictures?

Once you’re scheduled and paid in full, you’ll receive a map detailing where you’ll be setting up as well as the field number. This map will bring you to your spot starting from the main road (Hills Bridge Road) that the tree farm is located on and will take you through the farm to where you’ll both park and be taking pictures. This eliminates confusion when we have multiple photographers doing sessions in the same day. Stephanie can send a dropped pin as well that will help you find your area once you’ve arrived at the farm. Please be sure to pass the map and/or pin along to your clients. The only person at the farm who will be able to help find a photographer’s spot is Stephanie, so the other employees won’t be able to offer any assistance. This is when it’s advised to have the signs for your clients to find and follow.

There will be numbered signs in the fields as well that will let you know if you’re in the correct field. The signs are white with red numbers.

What are the rules on the farm?

NO SMOKING at any time.

Do not leave vehicles running, especially in the dry, grassy areas. This can cause a fire that will be devastating for everyone.

Please do not drive above 10 mph on the farm. There are customers and their families, other photographers and families, as well as tractors and employees all over the place. Driving at an unsafe speed will not be tolerated and any client not abiding by this will be made to leave. Our tractors will be pulling wagons loaded with trees and customers and the ability to brake suddenly or swerve is nonexistant.

Do not harrass other families on the farm. If there is any issue at all, call Stephanie (770-296-8360) immediately and she will handle this.

Do not park anywhere in the main road(s). There will be mutiple vehicles coming through the farm and wagons as well during the selling season. You will be told designated parking areas with your maps.

Do not drive in the fields with the Christmas trees. There are stumps that can damage your vehicle, small trees that can be damaged and ruined as well, and the fields are not always as solid and firm as they appear. We’ve plowed some of them prior to planting so they can be softer and create a mess for everyone.

Do not cut down any tree for a prop unless you’ve already paid for the tree. The tree farm is our main business and don’t want to lose trees any more than we do thanks to the deer.

Please watch out for uneven ground. This is a farm and it’s not going to be perfectly level anywhere.

There will be bugs… so I can’t help you in that area. We do spray for ants prior to the tree sessions beginning. This lasts for about a year, unless we have more rain than usual. Then, we will go back over the fields again to help erradicate them as much as possible.

Do not move to a different location unless it has been approved by Stephanie. The designated spots are done for a reason and that’s to ensure all of the photographers have ample space for their sessions.

No alcohol on the property.

Is there a shady spot to take pictures?

There are definitely shady spots on the farm. Unfortunately, if you want Christmas trees (or sunflowers or buckwheat), you’ll have to suffer the sun. Nothing we have planted grows in the shade… they all need sunlight! So bring battery-powered fans and lots of water too!

Ready to Book Your Session?

As a photographer, I love this farm so much! They are the most friendly people ever and the entire family is always so helpful and kind. One time I got stuck in the mud and they even came and helped me out. I will only use them for Christmas Tree Farm sessions and sunflower sessions. Best. Place. Ever.
